Dalhousie Tigers women’s volleyball head coach Patrick Murray is pleased to announce the commitment of Sophia Stubeda for the 2024-25 season.

Hailing from Hammonds Plains, Nova Scotia, Stubeda Plays for the Bedford Blizzard Volleyball Club. A two-time Volleyball Nova Scotia bronze medallist, the outside hitter is also a three-time team MVP. Stubeda has also represented Nova Scotia for two seasons and was a member of the Team Nova Scotia that finished fourth at the Canada Cup in 2023.

“Becoming a Tiger will allow me to pursue my academic goals while playing volleyball at a high level,” says Stubeda. “I am beyond excited to begin this journey with the amazing teammates and coaching staff at Dalhousie.”

A two-time member of the Principal’s List at Charles P. Allen High School, Stubeda will be studying engineering at Dalhousie.

“It was very important to me that my first recruit embody the qualities of a student-athlete that I want to be representative of our program moving forward,” says Murray. “I was thrilled to find that with Sophia. She plays with an undeniably competitive presence, has a tremendous work ethic, and excels in the classroom. Sophia brings many technical skills on both sides of the ball that will translate well to the U SPORTS level.”
