BRANDON, Man. – The Bobcats stormed out of the gates to a strong first set against the MacEwan Griffins but the visitors turned things around and picked up a 3-1 (21-25, 25-21, 25-23, 25-19) win Friday at the HLC.
Despite hitting just .093 in the first set, the Bobcats managed to take the first, however the Griffins quickly turned things around in the remaining three sets to win the match. The Bobcats almost doubled MacEwan’s ace production as well, hitting 13 serves for points to MacEwan’s seven.
MacEwan’s Mariah Bereziuk led all scorers with 21 kills, hitting at a .395 clip on the night.
Brandon was led by second year outside Avery Burgar’s team-high 12 kills.
The win snaps MacEwan’s winless skid as the Griffins now sit with a record of 1-8 in conference play.
The Bobcats will not look to right the ship on Saturday and snap their winless skid. First serve at the HLC is set for 5 p.m.
