Siksna, Licis, Rabit named OUA All-Stars; Brdarevic named to All-Rookie Team

KINGSTON, Ont. (March 5, 2024) – Queen’s Men’s Volleyball had four players named OUA All-Stars for the 2023-24 season, the conference announced Tuesday.

Erik Siksna and Zig Licis were named OUA First Team All-Stars, while Lhexen Rabit was named a Second Team All-Star, and Alex Brdarevic was named to the All-Rookie Team.

“Congratulations on the individual recognition each of these student-athletes is receiving, this is a testament to their commitment to trusting the process,” said Queen’s Men’s Volleyball Head Coach Gabriel deGroot. “To the major award winners, first, and second team All Stars: these awards represent the work each individual has put in and is a testament to the standard of excellence within our team culture on and off the court. We are immensely proud of each athlete and their dedication to their craft.”

Siksna (Markham, Ont.), who was also named the OUA Player of the Year on Tuesday, led the Gaels in several offensive statistical categories this past season from the outside hitter position. The outside hitter finished the season third in the OUA in hitting percentage at .339, sixth in kills/set at 3.50, and ninth in total kills at 217.

The former OUA and U SPORTS Rookie of the Year, East Division Player of the Year in 2021-22, and now four-time OUA All-Star, Siksna also finished first in the conference in service aces at 52, and service aces per set at 0.84. Siksna also recorded 16 assists, 87 digs, and 24 total blocks in the 2023-24 season.

Licis (Louisville, CO) finished second on the Gaels and 13th in the conference in total kills, with 179, and 14th in kills/set, at 2.59 from the outside hitter position. Licis also finished the year ninth in the OUA in hitting percentage at .254, and fourth in the conference in serving aces, with 27.

Rabit (Hamilton, Ont.), who was also awarded the Dale Iwanoczko Award of Merit, recognizing an athlete that exhibits a combination of excellence in academics, athletics, and community service, finished the year tied for seventh in the conference in digs, at 129, and 20th in assists, at 44.

And Brdarevic (Hamilton, Ont.) finished the year with 11 kills and five total blocks from the middle position.
