The Memorial Sea-Hawks will hit the road to once again to face the Dalhousie Tigers in a do-or-die single elimination match with the winner advancing onward into the semi-finals.

The Sea-Hawks finished the regular season with a record of 2-13, finishing in 6th place in their conference, despite their record, the team has been seemingly improving every game, regularly capturing sets and pushing opposing teams to the limit. Melissa Hatfield shined throughout the season on the attack for the Sea-Hawks, finishing the regular season with a team-high 122 kills, followed closely by fellow standout teammates Sarah Trowbridge (108), and Cecilie Dumaresque (83), who sadly will miss the match through injury. On the defensive end Sarah Trowbridge was extremely consistent in getting to balls, and keeping the play going, leading the team with an impressive 155 digs, trailed by teammate Erin Grabka‘s 110 digs. Heading into this decisive match, Sea-Hawks setter Jenna Poole will be critical in her team’s ability to attack, her 287 assists rank 5th in the entire AUS, converting defence into offence will be critical to their success.

The Dalhousie Tigers finished the season with a series sweep of the Memorial Sea-Hawks last weekend and will look to continue their strong play for Thursday’s match. Outside hitter Julie Moore enjoyed a superb season all over the court, leading the Tigers in kills (149), and digs (170), and rarely making mistakes during the match. The rest of the Tigers attack is led by Sarah Dawe’s 98 kills, and Victoria Turcot’s productive 87 kills, their balanced attack keeps opposing team’s guessing. Alessandra Nadalini shows an impressive ability to recover balls and send successful passes to the setter, finishing the regular season with 163 digs, a mark that slots her 8th in the conference. The Tigers will rely on more of the same from their setter Brett Boldon, who’s 329 assists rank 4th in the AUS, expect Boldon to put her teammates in favourable positions to attack.

The quarter final match between the Dalhousie Tigers and Memorial Sea-Hawks will take place on Thursday, March 10th at 7:00 PM AST. The game can be seen live at AUStv.ca .
