TORONTO – The Rams men’s volleyball team will be facing the undefeated Nipissing Lakers this weekend in North Bay.
With a 1-3 record to start the season, the team is looking to bounce back from last Saturday’s loss against Toronto and regain their footing in the OUA East division.
While the Rams provincially rank only one place behind than the Lakers in offensive hitting percentage, Nipissing leads the league in defensive plays with a -.039 opponent’s hitting percentage and posts a 4-0 record.
With this weekend’s opponents heavy on defence, the Rams will need to focus on protecting their own side of the court as well as developing different tempos or offensive strategies to throw off the Lakers.
The Rams have 11 wins and four losses against Nipissing throughout the years, and adding another win to both the team history and the season record might be just what the Rams need to find their rhythm again.
Fans can watch for Lhexen Rabit, who ranks second in the OUA in digs, and Jacob Walker, who is ranked ninth in the province in points.
The team’s first game of the series is scheduled for Friday at 8 p.m., and you can watch it live at OUA.tv. Game two goes on Saturday at 5 p.m. to wrap the fall portion of the schedule.
