Rams hope to rebound in home opener

After dropping a tight series to open their season against Queen’s, the Rams women’s volleyball team heads home to take on the York Lions this Saturday.

TORONTO – After dropping a tight series to open their season against Queen’s, the Rams women’s volleyball team heads home to take on the York Lions this Saturday.

Despite the dreaded zero in the Rams’ win column, the squad has shown off plenty of skill in their first two games. In their season opener loss, each set was within just three points or less. Fatigue may have been an issue for the Rams in their second loss as they struggled to rival the Gaels in sets three and four.

Nevertheless, the Rams will enter the Mattamy Athletic Centre well-rested and energized on Saturday for their home opener against crosstown rival York. Although the Rams can count on blue and gold fans to support them at home, the visiting Lions will present a stiff test for the squad.

York has yet to drop a set this season, winning two games against the RMC Paladins, both 3-0 sweeps. The Lions’ defence has come alive early, having kept RMC to 20 points or less in every set.

However, the Rams’ offence will strive to be up to the task, led by Zoe Kuck and Ashley Ditchfield

On Saturday, first serve flies at 3:00 p.m. Rams fans are able to attend, but require a ticket. Health and safety protocols are in place.
