Queen’s Women’s Volleyball opens weekend series with straight sets win over Windsor

KINGSTON, Ont. (Jan. 13, 2023) – Queen’s Women’s Volleyball opened their weekend doubleheader against the Windsor Lancers with a 3-0 (25-14, 25-17, 25-11) win Friday night at the Athletics and Recreation Centre.

The Gaels controlled the match from the start, with three Queen’s players tying for a game-high seven kills in Lauren Mellon, Amanda Siksna, and Aimee Lemire. Siksna also finished with a game-high four blocks in the win.

Shea Baker put in a solid game for the Gaels, recording 28 assists and six digs. Rachael Meilikhan led Queen’s with 11 digs.

With the win, the Gaels improved their record to 7-4 on the season while the Lancers fell to 7-5 with the loss. Queen’s jumped Windsor in the standings and now sit sixth in the OUA.

The Gaels and Lancers will wrap up their weekend set Saturday, Jan. 14 at 4 p.m. at the ARC. Tickets for the game can be purchased here.
