Queen’s Women’s Volleyball edge Toronto in five sets to sweep weekend doubleheader

KINGSTON, Ont. (Nov. 6, 2022) – Queen’s Women’s Volleyball outlasted the Toronto Varsity Blues 3-2 (25-19, 23-25, 25-18, 19-25, 18-16) Sunday afternoon at the Athletics and Recreation Centre to open their season with a weekend sweep.

A back-and-forth game went to the fifth set where Queen’s came out on top, edging the Varsity Blues 18-16.

Hannah Duchesneau finished the game with a game-high 17 kills while adding four blocks and 13 digs.

Lauren Mellon recorded five aces, Aimee Lemire finished with six blocks, and Shea Baker had 25 assists in the win for Queen’s.

With the victory, the Gaels improved their record to 2-0 while the Varsity Blues fell to 0-2.

Queen’s will return to the court for a weekend doubleheader against the RMC Paladins on Nov. 19 and 20.
