PRINSLOO, ENDES NAMED YORK ATHLETES OF THE WEEK FOR PERIOD ENDING JAN. 7

York University Lions volleyball players Martin Prinsloo and Amarai Endes were named the first York athletes of the week of 2024, for the period ending Jan. 7

Prinsloo, a fourth-year kinesiology & health science major, posted nine kills, nine assists, five digs and a block in his team’s tough five-set loss to the Guelph Gryphons on Friday night. The Burnaby, B.C. native then followed that up with a season-high 16 kills, which led his team, to go along with 12 digs in a four-set defeat at the hands of the Toronto Varsity Blues.

Endes, a third-year environmental biology major, posted a total of 21 kills over a pair of matches last weekend, including 10 in a five-set loss to Guelph and 11 in a four-set loss to Toronto. The Toronto native also had nine total blocks, seven of which came Friday, as well as one assist in Saturday’s match.

Both Lions volleyball teams begin a four-game road trip with a pair of games this coming weekend against the Waterloo Warriors. Endes and the women play at 6:00 pm on Friday and 4:00 pm on Saturday, while Prinsloo and his men’s teammates take the court at 8:00 pm on Friday night and 6:00 pm on Saturday.
