The Ontario Volleyball Association (OVA) is pleased to welcome Jacob Barker as the newly hired Indoor Volleyball Program Coordinator. In this role, Jacob will be responsible for the planning, set-up and execution of all OVA 4v4-15U events as well as assisting the Youth Competitions team to deliver high quality programming to OVA members.
A recent graduate of the Brock University Sports Management program, Jacob has spent the last four years entrenched in the Niagara Region’s volleyball scene. He began as a statistician for the Brock University Badgers before becoming the Assistant Coach of the men’s volleyball program in 2019-20 and has served as an Assistant Coach for the Niagara Rapids Volleyball Club since 2017, coaching 14U, 16U and 17U boys teams.
Jacob’s coaching endeavours would bring him to Team Ontario as a coach for the Regional Program in 2019 and for the Team Ontario Academy the following year. Most recently, Jacob was the OVA Ontario Championships Intern – a position which began at the start of the New Year, before being brought on board full-time.
“I am beyond excited to start in this role. Volleyball has been my passion since first interacting with the sport in grade 9, with so many people providing me with an amazing experience. I cannot wait for the opportunity to pass this passion on to OVA members moving forward!”
A native of Strathroy, Ontario, Jacob competed in high school volleyball for the Strathroy District Collegiate Institute and for the London Volleyball Club.
Welcome aboard the OVA, Jacob!
