The No. 4 Brock women’s volleyball team received a warm welcome as fans returned to Bob Davis Gymnasium for the first time since Nov. 26, 2021.
The women’s volleyball team rewarded the Badger faithful with a 3-1 (25-23, 25-19, 25-22) win over the Western Mustangs on Sunday, Feb. 20.
The Badgers remain in first place in Ontario University Athletics (OUA) with a record of 9-0. Western falls to 5-4.
Badgers opened the match strong by winning the first two sets (25-18, 25-22) before the Mustangs fought back and won the third set (25-19). Badgers then showed some fight of their own to close the match out with a fourth-set victory (25-17).
Badgers led the game in categories such as kills (46-43), aces (5-4), assists (43-40), and digs (51-47). The Mustangs led in points (58-59) and blocks (7-12).
Sadie Dick led the offence with 14 kills. Madison Chimienti and Grace Pyatt scored nine and eight kills, respectively.
Pyatt was also a leader defensively, topping the Badgers with four blocks. Dick and Emily Foest each added three.
The Badgers (9-0) travel to Waterloo (6-3) on Wednesday, Feb. 23 at 6 p.m. before playing out their regular season at home. Livestream Wednesday’s contest on OUA.tv.
