University of Toronto women’s volleyball outside hitter Julia Murmann and men’s volleyball left side Evan Falardeau have been named the Varsity Blues athletes of the week for the period ending November 13.
Making her presence felt during a pair of games over the past week, Murmann finished top-two on the team in points in both contests.
Helping guide a come from behind effort Thursday night against the York Lions, the Toronto product racked up 17 kills to go along with 18 digs and a pair of solo blocks. The arts & science student then followed up that performance by leading the team in kills with 19 on Saturday at TMU in a four-set loss to the Bold.
Murmann and the Blues will continue their regular season schedule on November 19 when they host the Waterloo Warriors.
On the men’s side, Falardeau served as a major reason the Blues were able to pick up a pair of victories.
The fourth-year eligible left side was an offensive catalyst in back-to-back games. First, Falardeau recorded 25 kills and 31 points, including the final kill to conclude the historic 46-44 fourth-set on Thursday against York. Then on Saturday, Falardeau registered 24 kills and 29.5 points in a five-set win at TMU.
Over the two games, Falardeau’s 60.5 points accounted for 44% of his team’s offence.
