Mariners Outlast Blues
The Mariners jumped out a 2-0 lead after the first two sets winning 25-20 and 25-17 and looked like they would make quick work of the visiting Blues.
In the third set the Blues, who have been eliminated from post season play battled back winning 25-21 trying to make a game of it. However, the momentum was snatched back quickly by the Mariners who finished off the Blues 25-18 in the fourth set.
Rylan Van Kootan led the offensive push with 11 kills and Daniel Mascarenhas added seven.
Their victory snapped their three-match slide while the Blues lost their sixth in a row.
Chargers Keep Pace
The Camosun Chargers made quick work of the visiting CBC Bearcats on Friday winning in straight sets, 25-11, 26-24 and 25-22. It was their fifth straight win and 11th on the campaign keeping pace with the VIU Mariners who also won and are tied for second.
For the Bearcats they lost for the fifth straight time and are looking to rebound on Saturday afternoon and play spoiler to the Chargers push to a higher seeding.

Mariners Earn Sweep
A balanced attack was on display on Saturday as the Mariners completed the seasonal series sweep over the visiting Capilano Blues in three-straight sets winning 25-21, 25-17 and 25-22. Phillip Treitel collected seven kills while Van Kootan and Kolton Rawlusyk each had six in the win.
It was the Mariners 12th win of the year, and it handed the Blues their seventh straight setback.
Next weekend the Mariners (12-6) host the CBC Bearcats (4-14) and the Blues (2-16) travel to COTR for a date with the Avalanche (15-3) to conclude the regular season schedule.
Chargers Streak To Six
It took some extra points, but Camosun Chargers took down the visiting CBC Bearcats in three-straight sets on Saturday winning 31-29, 25-23 and 32-30.
The win is their sixth in a row and 12th on the campaign to stay in a second-place tie with the VIU Mariners, who they will face in a semi-final in two weeks at the PACWEST championship tournament.
The Bearcats lose their sixth straight and head into the final weekend looking to improve and build some momentum for next season.
The PACWEST schedule will conclude next weekend when the Chargers (12-6) visit the Douglas Royals (9-9) and the Bearcats (4-14) head to the Island again to meet the VIU Mariners (12-6).
