Box Score With a packed Robert J. Surtees Athletic Centre, the Nipissing Lakers men’s volleyball team was set to entertain.
The Lakers welcomed the RMC Paladins to town for the first of a pair of matches on the weekend
Nipissing wasted little time taking care of business, sweeping the Paladins aside for their second win of the season.
In the opening set, a slow start had the Lakers behind RMC, but they fought back to grab a quick 12-11 lead.
They extended that and continued to pour it on, claiming the first set victory, 25-17, over the Paladins to kick things off.
In the second set, the Lakers wasted little time jumping out in front once again.
They led 6-4, but found themselves tied 17-17 midway through the set.
From there, they outscored RMC 8-5 to pick up the win and go up 2-0.
In what turned out to be the final set, the Lakers and Paladins were even early, but Nipissing slowly pulled away, closing things out with a 25-18 win.
Three solid sets resulted in a sweep for the Lakers and a win to begin the weekend.
Jacob Ringma had a strong match, posting 12 kills and 14 points, while Jackson Young chipped in with 9 kills and 10.5 points in the Lakers win.
The same teams hit the court Saturday evening to wrap up the two match weekend here in North Bay.
Match time is set for 6pm.
