MEN’S VOLLEYBALL: LAKERS PICK UP A SWEEP OVER RMC

Box Score The Nipissing Lakers men’s volleyball team are looking to put together a strong run to close out the regular season.

With four matches left, the Lakers need to win and get some help as they push for the final OUA playoff spot.

Saturday, the Lakers hosted the RMC Paladins and grabbed control of the match early, winning in straight sets, 3-0.

Nipissing came out strong, grabbing an early lead.

Midway through the opening game, the Lakers led the Paladins 14-9 and extended their lead late in the game.

They finished things off comfortably, winning 25-16.

In the second set, the Lakers held an early lead, much like they did in the first set.

They built up a 16-11 lead midway through the set.

From there, they kept up the pressure and didn’t miss a beat as they extended the lead to 23-18 before putting the game away, winning 25-20.

With a chance at a sweep, the Lakers found themselves trailing early, but fought back and stormed ahead, leading 15-10 midway through the third game.

Nipissing made no mistake in claiming the win, 25-18 to claim the sweep.

Justice Smith led the Lakers with nine kills, while five Lakers had three kills apiece.

The Lakers and Paladins wrap up the weekend Sunday at 2pm at the Robert J. Surtees Athletic Centre.
