MEN’S VOLLEYBALL: LAKERS MAKE IT FOUR WINS IN A ROW AFTER SWEEPING BROCK

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 It was the start of the second half of the season the Nipissing Lakers men’s volleyball team was looking for.

The Lakers hit the road for a pair of matches against the Brock Badgers in St. Catherines and came away with two 3-1 victories.

Saturday, after dropping the opening set 25-20, the Lakers stormed back winning three straight.

Nipissing took the second set 25-15, grabbed the lead with a 27-25 win in the third set and put the match away with a convincing 25-16 win in the fourth set.

Jackson Young had a big match, posting 17 kills and 21.5 points, Jeremie Murray had 13 points and Jacob Ringma added 11 points in the victory.

Sunday was a similar scene, as the Badgers took the first set, winning 25-21 before the Lakers caught fire to take the match.

Nipissing won the second set 25-20, took the third 25-19 and swept the weekend thanks to a 25-18 win in the fourth set for their second straight 3-1 triumph.

Young was huge once again, putting up 20 kills and 26 points, while Tyrus Cuculick added 10 kills and 12 points and Murray scored eight kills and 10.5 points in the win.

The Lakers return home for a pair of matches against the Trent Excalibur – hitting the court Friday night at 8pm and Saturday at 8pm.

Both games are at the Robert J. Surtees Athletic Centre.
