The Nipissing Lakers men’s volleyball team performed well, but dropped a pair of matches to one of the top teams in the OUA to begin their season.
The Lakers came up short, losing 3-1 both Friday night and Saturday afternoon in Kingston to the Queen’s Gaels.
The Lakers dropped their opener, 3-1 (25-20, 19-25, 22-25, 17-25), to the Gaels.
Taydon Shantz led the Lakers with 11 kills and Justice Smith added nine in the match.
The Lakers dropped a tough match Saturday against Queen’s again, this time falling 3-1 (23-25, 22-25, 25-18, 21-25).
Smith led the Lakers with 11 kills, Marc Marchand added nine and Shantz had 12 points in the match.
Nipissing remains on the road next weekend, facing the McMaster Marauders in Hamilton.
