MEN’S VOLLEYBALL: LAKERS FALL TO BLUES IN ROUND 1 OF OUA PLAYOFFS

Box Score Entering their matchup with the Toronto Varsity Blues as the underdog, the Nipissing Lakers men’s volleyball team was ready for an upset.

Unfortunately, a strong start wasn’t enough for the Lakers as their season came to an end Saturday night as they fell to the Blues 3-1 in Round 1 of the OUA Playoffs.

Nipissing started the match with a bang, earning a 25-23 win to go up 1-0.

Toronto replied, winning the second set, with an identical 25-23 score to even things up, 1-1.

The Blues would continue to roll in the third set, taking control of the match, winning 25-21 and putting the Lakers on the brink of elimination.

The Lakers refused to quit, battling to the final point, but the Blues were able to come away with the victory, winning 25-23 to claim the match, 3-1, winning three straight sets.

Jackson Young led the Lakers with 20 kills, while Tyrus Cuculick added nine in the contest.
