HAMILTON, Ont. – The McMaster Marauders have launched the Marauder Giving Challenge, set to officially kick off on Tuesday, November 12. Alumni, fans, and supporters of Marauder Athletics are encouraged to unite in backing student-athletes, with donations directly supporting the growth and success of McMaster’s varsity teams. Contributions made at marauders.ca/giving allow supporters to champion specific teams and causes, making a tangible difference in athletes’ lives.
“The goal is to create an environment where student-athletes can not only compete but excel in all facets of their university experience,” said Keenan Jeppesen, Director of Athletics & Recreation. “Donor funding greatly impacts these programs, allowing athletes to reach new heights and gain experiences that shape their futures.”
In 2023, the Marauder Giving Challenge raised over $100,000, funding initiatives that support student-athletes both in competition and in their academic pursuits. From mental health resources and financial awards to upgraded training facilities and essential equipment, this support laid a foundation for continued growth. This year’s giving pages are already open, allowing supporters to contribute in advance of the official launch and help build momentum leading up to the big day.
The 2024 Marauder Giving Challenge introduces dynamic new team-based challenges, adding incentives for donors to rally around their favorite teams and unlock bonus funding. Highlights include:
- Team Challenge: OUA-level teams that raise $1,000 or more will receive a department bonus.

- Veteran Challenge: This prize will be awarded to the OUA and U SPORTS teams with the most supporters, with each receiving $1,000.
- MVP Challenge: Prizes of $1,000, $750, and $500 will go to teams receiving the largest individual donation.

The impact of Marauder alumni and supporters giving back to these programs is not lost on McMaster student-athletes.
“Thanks to the generosity of donors, I’ve had the chance to train, grow as a leader, and thrive alongside talented teammates,” shared Benjamin Winchester from Men’s Curling.
“Support fuels our commitment to reach our full potential,” Bella Serrano of Women’s Rugby added, “The McMaster Women’s Rugby Team would be nothing without the generosity of donors. It’s not only the financial support that makes a difference but also the encouragement, knowing that supporters believe in our potential.”
Each team participating in the Marauder Giving Challenge has outlined a unique case for support, detailing specific goals and how financial contributions would make a tangible impact for their program. These cases provide insight into each program’s needs, from enhancing training resources and equipment to supporting off-season development and leadership initiatives. Supporters can explore these team cases on the donation platform to see firsthand how their contributions will help student-athletes thrive.
As the Marauder Giving Challenge kicks off, Athletics & Recreation is calling on alumni, friends, and supporters to help shape the future of student-athletes at McMaster.
