LIONS COOL OFF RED HOT BOLD WITH IMPRESSIVE THREE-SET VICTORY

The York University Lions women’s volleyball team ended the TMU Bold’s six-game winning streak in decisive fashion on Saturday night with a straight-sets victory over their rivals from Carlton Street.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Olivia Kim and Chiara Da Silva led an early offensive onslaught for Lions in front 10-1. They maintained control throughout the set, en route to a 25-17 first-set victory to lead 1-0..
  • After going down 3-0 in the second set, the Lions quickly responded, as Kim made a successful outside hit and a solo block for a pair of points. Then, Alisa Trubyuk was there to level the scoreline for York.
  • The Lions then continued their dominant display by making a total of six blocks in the second set, thwarting numerous TMU’s attacks. The Bold kept it close for the majority of the second, but York pulled away late with an identical 25-17 victory to go up 2-0.
  • The Bold went up 2-0 in the 3rd, after which the Lions replied with five straight points to lead 5-2. The score stayed within three for the remainder of the set. With the Lions at match point, up 24-22, Kim and Amarai Endes made a block at the net to seal the victory in three sets, ending TMU’s six-game unbeaten streak.

Next, the Lions, 7-6, will travel to St. Catherines to take on the 11-2 Brock Badgers on Friday, January 27. The game starts at 6:00 pm.
