Lancers sweep Bold in final home game of the season

The Lancer men’s volleyball team hosted the TMU Bold on Sunday afternoon at the Toldo Lancer Centre for senior’s day. Although the Bold would put up a good fight, the Lancers could not be stopped and would secure a 3-0 (25-19, 25-17, 25-18) victory.

Windsor was led by all-around graduating senior Zach Albert with 11 kills, 4 assists, and 5 digs while Stephen Kary also had a solid performance with 9 kills and 4 digs total in the win.
 
GAME FLOW
The Lancers opened up the first set with a kill and a service ace to set the tone for the game. Another solid kill from Lucas Nastase gave Windsor an early 5-3 lead. TMU kept themselves in the game and tied the game at 16-16, but the Lancers broke away and eased their way to a 25-19 win.
 
In the second frame, the blue and gold continued to dominate on the court as a number of Bold attack errors benefited the Lancers. The hosts would remain relentless in their approach as they went on a 5-point run. Gustavo Siqueira made his mark with a kill right down the middle that the Bold were unable to stave off. Although the Bold tried to make things interesting late in the set, the blue and gold were too far ahead to make a difference and Windsor earned an easy set win, 25-17.
 
Windsor’s winning ways continued in set three as the team took control of the game from the first serve. Albert played a key role in the action with his spin serves and a kill that forced TMU into a quick timeout. The Bold did a better job at minimizing attacking errors as they started to show good instinct. With the set score close, 13-11, Windsor was determined to shut down the visitors and put the match away in three sets. The Lancers accomplished their task and swept the game with a 25-18 set win.
 
UP NEXT
Windsor will close out the regular season with a pair of road games next weekend against the York Lions. Game one is scheduled for Friday, February 17th at 8:00pm, with game two to follow on Saturday night, also at 8:00pm.
