BRANDON, Man. – The Saskatchewan Huskies quickly put Friday’s season opener in the rear-view mirror and sped away to a straight sets sweep Saturday.
The Huskies beat the host Bobcats 3-0 (25-22, 25-14, 25-23) to earn the weekend split and move to 1-1 in the conference season.
Saskatchewan’s offence was firing on all cylinders in the first two sets and while Brandon wouldn’t back down in the third the Huskies were just too much.
The two teams were neck and neck through the first set, but the Bobcats struggled to score down the stretch. While Rayvn Wiebe was untouchable in the first set Friday, she struggled in the first on Saturday, going 1-for-17 with five errors.

The Huskies out-hit, dug more efficiently, and out-blocked the Bobcats in the first and nearly shut down the Bobcat offence through-out.
The Huskies were led by Olivia Mattern’s match-high 12 kills while Emily Koshinsky wasn’t far behind with 11. Averie Allard finished with a match-high 28 assists while Jessica Andjelic had a match-high 15 digs.
The Bobcats were led by rookie Taryn Hannah’s team-high seven kills. Caitlin Le finished with a team-high nine digs, adding to her milestone night Friday in which she surpassed 1,000 career kills.
The Bobcats now get set to head out on the road for the first conference action against Regina next weekend.
The Huskies will host the Manitoba Bisons in the team’s home-opener at the U of S Physical Activity Complex.
