SASKATOON – The University of Saskatchewan Huskies men’s volleyball team were treated to an electrifying four-sets of action on Friday night at the PAC on the Ron & Jane Graham Centre Court at the PAC, as the Huskies (9-8) prevailed over the Winnipeg Wesmen (10-7) by a score of 3-1 (25-20, 25-21, 23-25, 25-10).
The Huskies Levi Olsen led the game with 19 kills, whilst Winnipeg’s Daniel Thiessen was not far behind with a total of 15 kills. Olson finished the first set going six for eight. The first set ended with Huskies taking it 25-20 off a Winnipeg service error.
The Huskies continued their hot form in the second, rolling to a 25-21 victory once again coming off a Wesmen service error.
Despite a back-and-forth third set, the Wesmen were able to come out on top and extend the game to a fourth set taking it 23-25 off a Huskie attack error.
However, the dropped set galvanized the Huskie team as they rolled in the fourth set, holding the Wesmen to just 10 points. The Huskies were able to amass a .311 kill percentage compared to the Wesmen’s .090 on the night.
The Huskies will face the Wesmen again tomorrow night at the PAC at 5 PM for their last regular-season game. Matthew Primrose, Nathan Seidel, Luke Wandzura and Jeff Erickson will be honoured as they play their final regular season game before graduating from the program. You can catch all the action on Canada West TV presented by Co-op.
