Huskies announce commitment of Esther Wildeboer for 2024-25 season

Saint Mary’s women’s volleyball head coach Darren Russell is pleased to announce the commitment of Esther Wildeboer to the Huskies line-up for the 2024-25 Atlantic University Sport season.

A 6’2″ right side hitter from Ottawa, ON, Esther Wildeboer starred with the Ottawa Fusion Volleyball Club, and was team captain at Redeemer Christian High School. She is also a veteran of the Ontario Provincial Team program, having competed for Team Ontario Elite, and Team Ontario Black (Maples).

“Saint Mary’s University felt so welcoming on my visit this past Spring,” said Wildeboer. “I loved the university and the huge welcome I got from Coach Darren who took the time to show me around campus and took the time to explain everything SMU has to offer.”

“From the moment I met Esther, I know she would be a perfect fit with our team,” said Huskies head coach Darren Russell. “She is an impactful player who will bring a competitive edge. She has drive and is someone who supports her teammates. I can’t wait to watch her player!”

Wildeboer’s Ottawa Fusion coaches describe her as ‘one of the most competitive athletes we have ever coached. She is driven to improve daily, coachable and a team player. Esther will do great at things at Saint Mary’s.”
