The Dalhousie Tigers were able to walk away with another victory today over the Memorial Sea-Hawks by a final score of 3-0 (25-13, 25-19, 25-19) at the Memorial Fieldhouse.
The Sea-Hawks hosted senior night tonight, honouring the careers of Margaret Henley, Cecilie Dumaresque and Jenna Poole as they play their final stretch of games in a Sea-Hawks uniform. The Sea-Hawks also celebrated the tenure of Coach John Slauenwhite, who this weekend is coaching his final home games as he moves on to a new chapter following this season.
In tonight’s game the Sea-Hawks were lifted by solid performances from their key players, including another great performance from Melissa Hatfield. The Sea-Hawks outside hitter finished the match with a team-high 8 kills, creating the bulk of the offence once again for the home team. She was the home team’s player of the game. Margaret Henley got the start at setter for the Sea-Hawks, finishing the game with an impressive 21 assists, 4 digs and 3 service points for the Senior. Lydia Grawer was able to put together a solid performance once again for the Sea-Hawks, contributing 7 kills , 7 digs and 3 service points, contributing to a lively Sea-Hawks attack.
It was more of the same from the Tigers on Saturday night, they played a solid, consistent game. Despite the Hawks putting up some heavy resistance and having some good runs in the 2nd and 3rd sets, Dalhousie kept their composure and showed why they are the 8-time defending conference champions. Julie Moore once again led the way for the visiting team, concluding the game with a game-high 13 kills and 18 digs, and seemingly always being in the right spot at the right time. Tigers setter Brett Boldon also had a solid game, finishing with 19 assists and 3 service points, and setting up her teammates in favourable positions throughout the match.
