Hatashita and Osunde earn Marauder Athlete of the Week honours

HAMILTON – Ellie Hatashita and AY Osunde have been named the Marauder Athletes of the Week. 

Women’s Volleyball – Ellie Hatashita
Ellie Hatashita, a middle in her fourth year of eligibility, was impressive in the Marauders’ back-to-back wins over the previously undefeated Guelph Gryphons. The senior recorded four kills for a .500 kill percentage on Friday night while also contributing four digs and one block assist in the 3-0 victory. Hatashita followed up that performance with another impressive night on Saturday. The Kanata local had five kills, one service ace, five digs and a block assist in the second sweep of the Gryphons. Her .400 kill percentage was the second highest of any Marauder that night. The Commerce major currently has 13 total blocks on the season (16th in the OUA), 11 total service aces (11th in the conference) and averages 1.86 kills per set.

Men’s Basketball – AY Osunde
A third-year guard on the Marauders men’s basketball team, AY Osunde was a force off the bench on Friday and Saturday night. The Humanities student was a spark in Friday night’s contest, recording 20 points in McMaster’s first win over the No. 4 Carleton Ravens in 22 years. He went 5-for-9 from outside the arc whie also adding three rebounds and three steals in the victory. The following night, the Scarborough local had a game high 18 points in the contest against the No. 1 Ottawa Gee-Gees. He shot 50% from 3-point range and secured five rebounds. The veteran Marauder ranks third in the province in total 3-pointers made with 28, averaging 38.9% from outside the arc (16th in the OUA), and sits sixteenth in total points with 152.
