Guitard Joining REDS

(FREDERICTON, NB) The UNB REDS women’s volleyball team is naming 5’11” outside hitter Clara Guitard to their recruiting class of 2025.

The 16-year-old has signed a U SPORTS Letter of Intent and will join the REDS ahead of the 2025-2026 Atlantic University Sport season.

“Clara is a dynamic six-rotation player with an impressive ability to impact the game from every position on the court,” said REDS’ head coach Lauren Hale-Miller. “She hits a heavy ball, which consistently challenges opposing defences, and her blocking is strong, putting up a solid presence at the net. Beyond her technical skills, she stands out as a great teammate, bringing a positive attitude and contributing to a strong team dynamic. Clara is a homegrown talent, and we’re thrilled to have the opportunity to add such a skilled athlete to our program.”

Guitard is a veteran member of the senior girls’ team at Fredericton’s École Sainte Anne, where she was the team’s MVP and captain in 2024.

She’s also a veteran member of the Reds Volleyball Club, earning age division MVP awards in 2019, 2021, and 2023.

Guitard was a member of Volleyball New Brunswick’s U16 and U17 teams that participated in Canada Cup tournaments in 2022, 2023, and 2024.

“I’ve been watching UNB’s women’s volleyball since I was very young, and it was always a dream for me to be able to play with this team,” said Guitard. “I’m excited to be able to learn from this team and improve my skills. I’ll always put my efforts into being a one hundred-percent teammate.”

“We expect Clara to bring a high level of competitiveness and drive,” said Coach Hale-Miller. “Her versatility will give us flexibility both offensively and defensively, making her an asset on the court. Clara’s leadership, work ethic, and passion for the game will elevate the intensity of our practices and matches.”

“As a local player, we’re excited to see Clara’s journey continue with us, further strengthening the connection between our program and the local community,” added Hale-Miller.

Guitard will study Business while attending UNB.
