In a rematch of Friday night’s face-off, the Queen’s Men’s Volleyball team took on the Brock Badgers, this time improving from a five-set victory to a four-set win (25-19, 20-25, 25-21, 25-18).
In the win, Lachlan McBride (Law) secured 13 kills with a hit percentage of .632. McBride also added five blocks for the Gaels.
Through the first set, the Gaels kept a consistent lead, comfortably outplaying the Badgers on offense.
Their strong offensive efforts also led Brock to take an early timeout in the second, after which the Badgers turned things around and fought back, taking the set.
With a final push, the Gaels rallied together and — assisted by kills from all over the court — secured the next two sets for a four-set win.
Through out the match, Queen’s maintained their characteristic aggressive defensive presence at the net, with 15.5 total blocks. Izaak Zabjek (Kinesiology) secured 10 and Dax Tompkins (Arts) and Chris Zimmerman (Arts) each amassed four.
Zabjek and Tompkins are first and second in the OUA in assisted blocks and total blocks respectively.
Zimmerman also currently leads the OUA in assists, with 170, and in assists per set, with 10.
Next weekend, Queen’s Men’s Volleyball takes on the Windsor Lancers at home in the ARC on Friday, Nov. 8, at 8pm, and Saturday Nov. 9, at 6pm. Tickets are for sale on the Queen’s ticket website.
