KINGSTON, Ont. (March 15, 2024) – Queen’s Men’s Volleyball fell to the Sherbrooke Vert et Or 3-0 (25-19, 25-17, 25-21) in their semifinals match at the U SPORTS Men’s Volleyball Championship Friday afternoon at the Athletics and Recreation Centre (ARC).
After the Vert et Or took the first two sets, the Gaels rallied to make the third set close throughout, but No. 1 seed Sherbrooke managed to hold on for the four-point win in the set, and the straight sets victory.
Erik Siksna (Markham, Ont.) and Reed Venning (Courtice, Ont.) led the way for Queen’s offensively, with both players recording 13 kills. Venning also had a game-high nine digs for Queen’s.
Chris Zimmerman (Prince George, B.C.) was named Queen’s Player of the Game in the semifinal match after recording 33 assists and five digs.
The Gaels will play for the bronze medal at the U SPORTS Men’s Volleyball Championship, taking on the loser of the second semifinals match between the Alberta Golden Bears and UBC Thunderbirds.
