COMPLETE RELEASE

Originally from Proserpine, Australia Flowerday was one of the top players in the entire country this past season. Leading all of Canada with 418 kills and 479 points, he played in all 24 regular season matches for TRU and suited up in a nation-high 106 sets this season. Flowerday also finished fourth in the conference in kills-per-set (3.94) and third in service aces (43).

“It is great to see Sam Flowerday recognized for a solid season, he has improved in all aspects of his game,” said WolfPack head coach Pat Hennelly. “Offensively Sam has developed a variety of different shots, which has allowed him to improve his hitting efficiency and increase his number of kills out of system. His serving has become more consistent leading to a higher velocity and more aces.

“Sam led by example in the second half of the season which was very inspirational. This is a well-deserved honour for Sam and a tribute to his hard work and great attitude.”

Flowerday’s 418 kills were the most that a WolfPack player has recorded in a single-season in the program’s CW history, moving past Brad Gunter’s mark of 384. He becomes the seventh member of the program to be named a Canada West First Team All-Star and the first since Tim Dobbert in 2018-19.
