First road swing of preseason sees WolfPack battle T-Birds

| Box Score 2 KAMLOOPS – Out on the road to continue their preseason, the Thompson Rivers WolfPack men’s volleyball team played a pair of tight games with the UBC Thunderbirds on Friday, Sept. 27.
 
GAME 1: TRU 1, UBC 3
 
A solid start to the match saw the ‘Pack rebound after dropping a close first to take the second. TRU couldn’t keep that momentum rolling however en route to the 3-1 defeat.
 
“We were led in the middle by Britain Ward with eight kills and two blocks,” said WolfPack head coach Pat Hennelly. “Top scorer on the outside was Brendon Lord with 12 kills. Walker Sodaro ended with 35 assists as well as a couple of blocks and an ace.”
 
GAME 2: TRU 1, UBC 3 (25-21, 22-25, 21-25, 19-25)
 
Later on in the day TRU took on UBC once again and battled the T-Birds closely.
 
“That was our best volleyball of the preseason,” said Hennelly. “We are working with a lot of new players in the lineup, so it was refreshing to see some things clicking on the court.”
 
Dylan Annala and Rylan Ibbetson led the way offensively with 12 and 11 kills respectively while rookie Lincoln Wagner hit .429 with an ace and four blocks.
 
The WolfPack will be back in action for a pair of games on Saturday, Sept. 28 when they face the UFV Cascades and the Douglas College Royals in Vancouver.
