With only three weeks left in the 2022-23 Manitoba Colleges Athletic Conference (MCAC) women’s volleyball regular season, all teams are battling for top positions. Assiniboine Community College (ACC) Cougars moved up with a successful weekend with a road sweep and first year left side Elle Snyder dominated on both offence and defence during the two matches in the week ending on Jan. 29, 2023.
The Brandon, MB native started the weekend with a match-high 17 kills along with 20 digs plus five service aces and a match high 24 points an exciting five setter road victory on Friday, Jan. 27 over Canadian Mennonite University (CMU) Blazers. In the afternoon matinee on Jan. 28, Snyder led again with 16 kills (tied for team high) on .424 hitting percentage with 22 digs, three service aces and team high 20 points in another five set thriller win versus CMU.
“Elle is a very valuable team member who plays all three front row positions with a very high volleyball IQ. She has had a standout rookie season and does it all for her team!”, enthused ACC’s head coach Kevin Neufeld.
This was the first weekend sweep of this season for the Cougars. ACC has now won three consecutive matches and four of their last five contests since the start of the new year. The squad has now moved into a tie for third spot with a 5-9 MCAC record.
The Cougars and the Agribusiness student-athlete host first place Université de Saint-Boniface (USB) Les Rouges on Sunday, February 5 with first serve at 1:30 p.m. CT.
