QUICKLY
Bailey Balaberda had 11 kills for the University of Regina’s women’s volleyball team on Saturday night, but the Cougars were defeated in three sets by Mount Royal in Calgary.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After Mount Royal opened the match with a 25-17 win in the first, it looked as though the second set would be closer as the two teams were tied as late as 14-14. But MRU closed in a big way, scoring the next four points and 11 of the next 12 to take a commanding lead in the match with a 25-15 victory.
- The third set went Mount Royal’s way by that same 25-15 score, giving MRU its second win in as many nights over the Cougars and its fourth consecutive conference win.
NOTES
- Balaberda also had a pair of blocks to go along with her 11-kill performance. Devyn Grimsrud added four kills and two blocks, while Samantha Krausher finished with three kills.
- Cassadi Klapak dished out 15 assists for Regina and also had a kill, an ace, and a solo block.
