COMPETITIVE BEACH CLUB

2022 / 04 / 12

The Maverick Volleyball Beach Club is back for another great season on the beach! This is a great opportunity for beach players who would like to enhance their abilities as well as indoor players to keep improving all their skills while learning about beach tactics. It is also an excellent summer activity that can improve your fitness level and refine your motor skills.

The Program

The Maverick Beach Club Program aims to combine training and competing in the sport of beach volleyball. The program will run from May 30th until the first week of August (10 weeks). Athletes will practice two times a week in the afternoon (4-6pm), on Monday and Wednesday. All practices are led by experienced and high quality beach volleyball coaches.

On top of that, athletes are strongly encouraged to compete in OVA Beach Tour events as well as the Ontario Beach Championships (more information about competitions below).

Important! Players are required to sign up as a beach volleyball pair/team of two (same gender and ideally same age category). Beach volleyball is an athlete led sport. This means that there are no coaches on the court during games, and that it is up to the athletes to make decision about time-outs, strategy, etc. To encourage this autonomous behaviour, we require athletes to sign up with a partner.

Tournaments
We strongly encourage athletes to compete in 4 sanctioned events (either Ontario or Quebec) throughout the summer as well as in a provincial championship. You can find the full OVA Beach Tour schedule here. If you are interested in competing in Quebec instead of Ontario (or both), check out the  Quebec Beach Circuit (French only) calendars.

Additionally, we encourage athletes to take part in the Ontario Beach Volleyball Championships. These are scheduled over 2 different weekends at Ashbridges Bay in Toronto:

July 30th – 31st 13U/15U/17U/18U

August 6th-7th 12UG/14U/16U/Youth Open

Teams are responsible for their own tournament registrations at nrs.volleyball.ca. A step by step guide is presented below, but do not hesitate to ask us if you need help.
