TORONTO – The Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) Bold men’s volleyball squad is proud to kick off the offseason recruiting announcements with the team announcing the commitment of Liam Cobb for the 2023-24 season.
The Chatham, Ont. native will look to find success up the middle for the Bold this upcoming season and offers a viable sense of emotional composure when on the court.
Bold assistant coach and recruiting coordinator, Niko Rukavina, readily awaits the arrival of his team’s preliminary recruit for the 2023-24 season, believing Cobb’s physicality and athleticism will be a “force” as a middle blocker in the OUA.
“The TMU men’s volleyball program is very excited to add a player like Liam to our roster,” added Rukavina.
Cobb will enter his first year at the post-secondary level with nearly a decade’s worth of experience under his belt, including four years of high school volleyball that earned himself MVP honors at Chatham Kent Secondary School.
The incoming first-year student has also spent significant time with the Chatham Ballhawks, a club in which he captained prior to joining the Bold’s roster. The highlight of Cobb’s athletic career lies in his ability to switch from setter to middle, with the latter offering what he describes as “the best feeling” when striking the ball.
Cobb will be joining TMU’s criminology program this upcoming fall to continue his educational journey.
“I chose TMU because of the feel that the school gave off when you entered the campus. I absolutely love Toronto. It looks so cool to live in,” said Cobb. “When I was introduced to the coaches of the team and some of the players, I felt like this is where I wanted to be,” he added.
Cobb will kick off his blue and gold career later this fall and stands as the first addition to the Bold’s roster.
