Chimilovski Commits to Varsity Blues Women’s Volleyball

The 5’10 outside hitter has already spent three years as a member of Team Ontario.

The Varsity Blues women’s volleyball program is pleased to announce that Giulia Chimilovski has signed her letter of intent and committed to competing for the Varsity Blues beginning in the 2022-23 season.

“Giulia is a very bright and curious student-athlete who is very passionate about volleyball,” said Varsity Blues head coach Kristine Drakich. “She has been playing the sport for many years and we’re excited to have Giulia join our program and add depth to our outside hitting position.”

A Toronto native, Chimilovski will have the opportunity to pursue her post-secondary education while still getting to represent her hometown.

Chimilovski, a 5’10 outside hitter, comes to the Blues by way of the Leaside Heat of the Ontario Volleyball Association (OVA), and has already spent three years as a member of Team Ontario, and is also a part of the Team Ontario Elite program.

“I chose U of T because of its amazing academic and athletic reputation,” Chimilovski said. “I remember being in 13U, my first year of club volleyball, watching the Varsity Blues women’s team compete. I remember thinking to myself that day, I wanted to be a “Blue”. Now, I am choosing U of T because of its competitive environment and the opportunities available for me to become the best version of myself.

Chimilovski will be joining a Varsity Blues program that has won back-to-back OUA championships and four of the last six conference titles.

“After connecting with Kristine, the coaching staff and the girls on the team, I know that U of T will be a place where I will be challenged and supported to better myself every day,” Chimilovski said. “I am so excited to become a part of this team in the fall of 2022, and I am honoured to work alongside such a talented, driven and dedicated community.”

Students who sign a letter of intent and/or commit to Varsity Blues intercollegiate teams will be eligible to play at the University of Toronto provided they are academically admissible and have applied through the normal process with the Ontario Universities Application Centre.
