ST. CATHARINES – The Brock men’s volleyball team won the first set but couldn’t hold on during a 3-1 (25-21, 20-25, 19-25, 18-25) loss to the Nipissing Lakers at Bob Davis Gymnasium on Sunday, Jan. 8.
Brock has captured the first set in four of its regular season losses.
Third-year outside hitter Sauli Lianga notched a career-best .545 hitting percentage with 13 kills on 22 attempts and only one error.
Second-year setter Nolan Shapcott also posted a career high with 35 assists. Second-year outside hitter Kylar Code led Brock with two aces and eight digs. He registered his fifth double-digit kill game of the season with 11.
First-year setter Matt Tautrims tallied two aces and a pair of assists.
The Badgers hit for .307 (42-15-88) while the Lakers recorded a .388 (46-13-85) kill percentage.
Brock will look to turn things around when they welcome the McMaster Marauders to Bob Davis Gymnasium on Friday, Jan. 13. First serve is set for 8 p.m. Tickets can be purchased on University Tickets. The game will be livestreamed on OUA.tv.
