PETERBOROUGH – In their regular season finale, the No. 2 nationally ranked Brock Badgers women’s volleyball team made quick work of the Trent Excalibur defeating the home side in straight sets on Sunday afternoon. Set scores in the match were 25-10, 25-9, 25-14.
With the win Brock secured the top spot in the OUA this season, finishing in first place overall with an 18-2 regular season record.
In the Sunday afternoon match, the Badgers were on cruise control from the opening serve, putting together quick attack sequences alongside long-lasting service runs.
Second-year outside hitter Emily Foest led the Badgers in the win with a game-high 10.5 points scoring seven kills, three aces, and one block assist. Fellow sophomore Laurin Ainsworth also showcased some powerful swings along with great play at the net tallying five kills, one solo block, and seven block assists for 9.5 total points. Delivering impressive outings in back-to-back games, Meera Sayal also added 7.5 points from five kills, two aces, and one block assist.

Veteran Brock setter Sara Rohr paced the team’s attack with 29 assists, finishing the regular season leading the OUA in assists per set, while surpassing 600 total assists in a season for the first time in her career.
Natalia Fournier once again proved to be the top weapon for the Excalibur, recording a team-high five points in the quick three set loss,
Brock will now prepare to host an OUA quarterfinal showdown at the Bob Davis Gymnasium on Saturday, Feb. 25. First serve for the playoff contest is scheduled for 3 p.m. Once available, tickets for the home game can be purchased on University Tickets, while the action is also streamed online via OUA.tv.
