TORONTO – The TMU Bold women’s volleyball team is pleased to announce its first signing of the season, picking up Ayla Cross as part of the 2024 recruiting class.
Cross, a middle blocker, joins TMU after a standout junior career in Kelowna, B.C. where she led her teams to a pair of provincial gold medal games and served as captain in her senior year at Mount Boucherie Secondary. She was also named a B.C. School sports all-star in 2023 for her efforts this past season.
“She has been a dominant force in the middle on her club team in B.C. and we are thrilled to have an athlete of her calibre join our team,” noted assistant coach Brett Hagarty. “She has a strong work ethic which shows in her dedication to both academic and athletic excellence.”
Self-described as a competitive and coachable athlete, when Cross arrives on campus she’ll be putting her love of sewing and designing clothing to work as part of the fashion design program.
“I chose TMU because of their highly recognized fashion program, the downtown campus and the positive atmosphere,” noted Cross.
Cross looks to be a big part of the Bold’s future plans as the team looks to build off its 16-6 record and OUA semifinal appearance in 2023-24.
