Bobcats sweep Wesmen for second straight night

WINNIPEG – The Bobcats made quick work of the Winnipeg Wesmen for the second straight night, running the team’s win streak to six straight and improving the team’s record to 6-6. The Bobcats swept Winnipeg 3-0 (25-15, 25-14, 25-16) Saturday night at the University of Winnipeg Duckworth Centre.

The Wesmen -.070 for the night, just the third time in the past six seasons they’ve hit in a negative for the match and first since the 2019 season.

But the Bobcats kept Winnipeg at bay all night, registering nine total blocks and 40 digs to Winnipeg’s 33.

Max Brook was electric for the second straight night, leading the Bobcats with 10 kills and eight digs. Brandon hit .243 in winning its fourth straight and fifth of the past six.

Paycen Warkentin had a match-high five blocks while J.J. Love had 18 assists, a relatively low number for the second year setter but also a match-high.

Rylan Metcalf finished with three aces.

The team now enters the December break and won’t see conference action until the New Year.

The next conference will see the Bobcats take on the UBC-Okanagan Heat on January 6.

The next home action for Brandon comes on January 20 against Calgary.
