BRANDON, Man. – Talk about a statement win.
The Bobcats battled back from a first set loss to win the next three over the Calgary Dinos to extend the conference match win streak to seven Friday night.
Set scores were 21-25, 25-18, 30-28, 25-16.
The Dinos were as advertised in the first set, utilizing their size and dynamic attackers.
The Bobcats settled things down in the second and then things really took a turn in the third.
Brandon libero Jens Watt took an attack off the head leading 9-7 in the third, forcing the Lethbridge product to the sidelines temporarily.
It sparked the Bobcats however, as the team rallied before Watt subbed back on and helped the team to the critical win.
“Those games when stuff doesn’t always go your way, you have a guy go down, you got big breaks in between plays and all that kind of stuff, it just shows how far we’ve come,” said Max Brook of his team’s performance.
Brook had 10 kills, three aces and six digs to go with plenty of his usual animated celebrations.
“Calgary played fantastic tonight. That was definitely one of the more fun games I’ve played in my life and I’m just super excited the boys did a great job tonight,” Brook added.
Tom Friesen also finished with 10 kills.
Watt finished with 11 digs and Paycen Warkentin had a match-high five blocks.
Calgary was led by Louis Kunstmann’s match-high 17 kills.

The win is not only Brandon’s seventh in a row, it also moves the Bobcats one step closer to clinching a playoff spot. The ‘Cats currently sit fifth in conference standings at 9-6. Calgary sits at 7-10.
The two teams meet again Saturday in the second half of the weekend series.
