“We are happy to be hosting a quarter-final in our house,” said John Barrett, who is in his 12th season as Blues bench boss. “We know Nipissing well. They’re a good team with some very interesting elements, as well as having a difference-maker arm on the outside in Jackson Young. We are looking forward to playing in front of our fans in what is sure to be a barn burner of a match.”
THE STAKES: The Blues will be looking to secure a berth to their fourth consecutive OUA Final Four this weekend. The top three teams in the OUA will advance to the 2023 U SPORTS championships, March 17-19, at McMaster University.
HEAD-TO-HEAD: Toronto and Nipissing faced off twice during the regular season, splitting the season series 1-1. On Feb. 10, the Blues took the first game of the back-to-back, 3-2 (25-21, 30-28, 25-27, 23-25, 15-13). The Lakers won the second game the following day, 3-1 (20-25, 25-21, 11-25, 16-25).
This will be the first time the two teams have faced off in the post-season.
