BLUES SWEEP PALADINS IN FIRST OF BACK-TO-BACK

The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men’s volleyball team defeated the RMC Paladins 3-0 on Friday (Jan. 26) evening at the Goldring Centre Kimel Family Field House.
 
Set scores in the match were 25-20, 25-21, 25-16.
 
The action-packed evening was made short by Toronto’s determination and skill. The Blues dominated offensively, finishing the game with 41 kills compared to the Paladins 24, as well as holding an advantage in service aces (6) and blocks (3).
 
Setting a game-high of 15 points, first-year Jack Li set the example on court, recording 12 kills, two service aces, and one solo block. Just behind him was fellow outside hitter Connor Vanderkuip with 13 points, from 10 kills and three service aces. 
 
Setter Michael Hickey led the Blues offence, recording a game-high 31 assists. Blues libero Rylan Armstrong directed Toronto’s defence with a game-high 10 digs.
 
Cameron Moar led the way for the Paladins tonight, recording a team-high 8.5 points with seven kills, one solo block and one block assist.
 
The Blues will hit the court again Saturday (Jan. 27) afternoon in a rematch against the RMC Paladins at the Goldring Centre. First serve is set for 2 p.m. Tickets for the Blues home game can be purchased at varsityblues.ca/tickets, while all the action can also be caught online via oua.tv.
