BLUES SHOW RESILIENCY BUT ARE UNABLE TO OVERCOME NO. 2 BADGERS

The Varsity Blues began their final weekend of play before the holiday break Friday night at the Goldring Centre. Despite showing plenty of fight throughout the match, the Blues were unable to keep up with the visiting Brock Badgers falling 3-0 (17-25, 20-25, 9-25).

HOW IT HAPPENED: Playing host to the No. 2 team in the country, the Blues found themselves in a tough battle. The Badgers were able to establish momentum right away and build up a 13-3 lead over Toronto. Despite the deficit, the Blues continued to battle, narrowing the gap down to six at 20-14, but that was as close as they would get, dropping the opening set 25-17.

Unfortunately for Toronto, the second set was similar to the first. Brock again was able to take control early, going up 11-2. Once again though, the Blues would keep fighting. Despite later trailing 19-12, the Blues would go on an 8-2 run and pull within a single point of the visitors. However, out of a Brock timeout, the Badgers would secure the next four points to take the second set.

Doing whatever they could to keep up with the number two team in the country, the Blues were unable to solve the Badgers in the third set, with Brock ending the match, winning 25-9.

UP NEXT: Toronto will now play their final OUA regular season contest of 2022 on December 3, when they, once again, play host to the Brock Badgers. The match is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
