The University of Toronto Varsity Blues men’s volleyball team were defeated 3-1 by the Western Mustangs on Saturday (Nov. 11) afternoon at the Goldring Centre for High-Performance Sport.
Set scores in the match were 25-21, 22-25, 19-25, 22-25.
With the Blues win yesterday, the Mustangs returned looking to level the score. While the Blues won the first set, the Mustangs battled back winning three-straight sets. Western finished the night with 36 combined total attacking and service errors, slightly less than Toronto’s 37 errors.
hitter John Dunning led the Blues with 6 total blocks, setting a team and game-high.
Leading the Blues on the night were outside hitters Jayden Talsma and Hunter Arulpragasam who each recorded a team-high of 17 points. Fourth-year middle John Dunning finished the night with 10.5 points from 7 kills and led the Blues with 6 total blocks.
Setter Michael Hickey set the pace for the Blues recording 28 total assists, while libero Kenneth Mann led the Blues defense with 20 digs.
The Blues will battle the Nipissing University Lakers next week on Friday (Nov. 24) afternoon at the Goldring Centre.
