WINNIPEG — The matchup was airtight with the Winnipeg Wesmen, but for the Manitoba Bisons, the close sets went the other way on Friday.
Playing in downtown Winnipeg, Bisons women’s volleyball lost in four sets to Winnipeg, their fourth straight loss (18-25, 25-18, 21-25, 23-25).
The teams were neck and neck statistically, but seven service errors and a .124 hitting percentage did hurt the Bisons in the end.
Manitoba had a balanced attack. Light Uchechukwu continued a good series of matches, leading the team with 13 kills on 33 attacks. Brenna Bedosky followed up with nine while Ella Gray added eight.
The two defensive-minded teams racked up 211 digs in just four sets of action.
Veteran Ashleigh Laube led the Wesmen with 18 kills on 55 attempts.
This match concludes a weekend series broken up by a couple weeks due to exam scheduling. Next, the Bisons women will host the Brandon Bobcats on Feb. 11-12.
