Beach National Team Update

Volleyball Canada recently held an internal tournament at the High-Performance Centre (HPC) in Toronto (Downsview) with the aim of selecting the representatives for Canada at the NORCECA World Championship selection tournament in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic from June 6-9, 2023.

After intense competition, the team of Sophie Bukovec and Shanice Marcelle won the women’s tournament, while Sam Schachter and Dan Dearing claimed the top spot in the men’s category. These exceptional athletes will have the honor of representing Canada on the international stage. The Beach Volleyball World Championships will be held in Tlaxcala, Mexico (October 6-15).

Results:

Men:

1st – Schachter / Dearing (21-15, 21-16)
2st – MacNeil / Russell
3rd – Kopp / Chambers

Women:

1st –  Bukovec / Marcelle (15-21, 21-18, 15-7)
2nd – McBain / Bélanger
3rd – Corah / Goodman

 

Volleyball Canada’s upcoming beach volleyball trials are the following:

The teams to be nominated for the U21 World Championships in Roi-et, Thailand (scheduled for November 8-12) will be selected based on the rankings achieved at this year’s youth Beach Nationals. This exciting opportunity will allow the most talented young volleyball players to showcase their skills on the international stage and represent Canada at the prestigious U21 World Championships.

The upcoming events mentioned above, will be held at the Beach Volleyball courts located at Ashbridges Bay in Toronto.
