Attacking inefficiencies hamper Griffins in straight-sets loss to Wesmen

WINNIPEG, Man. – Held to just .026 efficiency in their attack, the Griffins men’s volleyball team was beaten in straight sets by the Winnipeg Wesmen on Friday night.

MacEwan couldn’t get much going in the match as they fell 25-13, 25-17, 25-13 to drop to 0-17 in the Canada West standings.

It’s the second-straight match the Griffins have been held under .100 on offence as they lost 3-0 for the 11thtime this season.

Mitchel Gorman led MacEwan with five kills and five digs, while Alexander Lyndon had 14 assists, an ace, three kills, five digs and a block.

Liam Kristjanson had 13 kills to lead the Wesmen (10-7) who sit in seventh in the Canada West. Isaiah Olfert had 10 kills, and Thomas Kiesman had a career-high 14 digs, which topped all players. 

The two teams will face each other again on Saturday (4 p.m. MT, Canada West TV).
