The Nipissing Lakers men’s volleyball team finished the weekend with a split on the road, but in the process, achieved a program-first.
The Lakers went 1-1 versus the McMaster Marauders in Hamilton, but their win was the first time Nipissing has defeated McMaster, highlighting a strong weekend for the team.
In the first match of their road trip, the Lakers fell 3-2 (17-25, 20-25,25-21, 27-25, 15-13) to
Marc Marchand led the attack with 14 kills, Justice Smith had 12, Taydon Shantz added 11 and Trent O’Brien had 10 in the match.
On Saturday to close things out, Nipissing picked up an historic win, defeating McMaster 3-1 (19-25, 27-25, 33-31, 25-17).
Leading the way for the Lakers was Smith with 14 kills, while O’Brien added nine in the victory.
Nipissing has a bye next week before hosting their home opener against York on Nov. 15.
