On Saturday evening, Queen’s Women’s Volleyball rematched the Brock Badgers. After dropping the first set, the Gaels rallied to take the next three and the win (10-25, 25-18, 25-7, 25-15)
Through the first, Queen’s struggled to deal with the Badger’s attacks. Despite switching up the lineup, the Gaels were unable to recover and relinquished the set.
In the second set, the Gaels improved their defensive effort, communicating as a team to receive Brocks attacks.
Queen’s also picked up their offense, with big kills from all over the court.
Claire Carter (School of Business) led the way for the Gaels in kills, picking up 11. Hannah Duchesneau (Arts & Science) and Aimee Lemire (Faculty of Education) picked up seven a piece.
The Gaels followed up the second set with an even more dominate third. They made very few errors and were on fire at the net.
Amanda Siksna (Faculty of Education) went for a 10-serve run — nabbing two service aces — which was only ended by a kill from the Badgers. Siksna finished the match with six total aces.
In the fourth set it was evident that the Gaels had the Badgers number. They maintained a consistent lead and finished strong with a kill from Abbey McAlpine (Arts & Science).
With the win, the Gaels record on the season improves to 3-1.
Looking to next weekend, Women’s Volleyball returns to the ARC to take on the Windsor Lancers at 6pm on Friday, Nov. 8. Tickets are available to purchase on the Queen’s ticket site and are free for students.
